You are the God who sees me
Genesis 16:13

Wounded feelings, alienation, loneliness, fear and desperation—the typical emotional condition for so many—dog the steps of Hagar the slave-girl. In her distress she is met by the Angel of the Lord who speaks kind words and promises to care for her. She is struck by the fact that God has seen her plight, and that is what elicits her exclamation.  We humans cannot contemplate God visibly. Our walk with him is by faith, not by sight. But that does not mean he does not see us. He does, and his seeing of us is no idle observation. It is always gracious, always beneficent, always redemptive.
