“Jesus said to them, ‘When you pray, say: ‘Father, hallowed be your name’” (Luke 11:2)
The first part of the Lord’s prayer is by far the most important of all its parts. When God’s name is treated as dirt – as a cuss word – no one wants to know him, and that is a great shame because there is no other way to eternal life than through the Lord.
It is the responsibility of those who proclaim the gospel to uplift and hallow God’s name, to reveal what a wonderful, generous, self-sacrificing God he is. When God’s name is hallowed – when Jesus is lifted up before the world – he will draw all men to him.
