Jesus said, “A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests. At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’ But they all alike began to make excuses” (Luke 14:16-18).
The “certain man” in this parable is God. He is preparing a great banquet for his Son who is about to marry his bride. And who is this bride? She is the assembly of the redeemed, which consists of all who accept his invitation to the banquet.
The Father of the Bridegroom has spared no expense in hosting this banquet. The personal invitations to this banquet are hand-delivered to the invitees, “But they all alike began to make excuses.” Can you believe it? It’s true!
The problem with most ‘Christians’ today is that they believe they are already Christ’s bride, when they are not. They are religious but not saved. They do not know Christ, and he does not know them.
What kind of relationship do you have with Jesus? Do you love him and want to spend the rest of your life with him?
