Sixty years ago, Boris and Anna Kozlov were married for only three days before he had to ship out with his Red Army unit. When he returned, Anna and her family were gone – exiled to Siberia by Stalin’s purges. Then one day, on a chance encounter, they found each other again!
“I thought my eyes were playing games on me,” Anna said. “I saw this familiar looking man approaching me, his eyes gazing at me. My heart jumped. I knew it was him. I was crying with joy.” 80 years-old Boris had returned to visit his parents’ grave. As he stepped out of the car, he looked up to see Anna standing by her old house, where they had lived for the few days after the wedding. “I ran up to her and said: ‘My darling, I’ve been waiting for you for so long. My wife, my life…”
This was an amazing reunion. How did they recognize each other? I guess that when you love that deeply, you will always recognize each other!
Here is another amazing reunion:
Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.” 8 It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. 9 …Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’” (Rev 19:7–9, NASB.)
The Lamb’s bride was taken hostage by the evil one a long, long time ago. But because of Calvary, the Lamb has overcome! And now He is preparing to be reunited face-to-face and forever with his bride again!
Jesus is the Lamb – the bridegroom. The church – His redeemed ones – are His bride. Whether you are male or female, you are the bride – this is an image of Jesus’ love for you. And Jesus has ascended to heaven to prepare a place for you. This is not just any place, but the place of honour at his banqueting table – a place for his bride.
Jesus has been waiting a long, long time to see you face to face. The years have taken their toll on you. How will he recognize you? How can you present yourself before him?
There is nothing to fear, for He himself has provided for you the fine linen of righteousness, bright and clean.
And when you love that deeply, you will always recognize each other.
