Unlimited: Calling, Believing, Hearing, Preaching

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? (Romans 10:14–15a).
Paul has been writing about the Gospel, and here he gives us an important sequence through which people find salvation.
First, someone must be sent by God. Jesus is the ultimate messenger whom God has sent to this world. Then, someone must preach about Jesus. Jesus has said to us,
Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15.)
In this way, the person must hear about Jesus, but hearing is not enough. The person must also believe in Jesus. John the Baptist said,
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life… (John 3:36.)
Their faith must then be expressed so that they call upon Jesus.
Their faith must then be expressed so that they call upon Jesus. This is a desire from the surrendered heart for Jesus to save them.
Then the person will be saved. They will have eternal life and will never be ashamed.
This passage tells us that the Gospel originates with God (John 3:16.). It also tells us that after Jesus died for our reconciliation with God, he amazingly entrusted us with the word of salvation:
As the Father has sent me, I am sending you (John 20:21; See also Mark 16:15–18.)
What an indescribable privilege it is to be part of this greatest endeavour of all!
Spiritual Application
What stage are you at in this golden cycle of salvation? Are you at the initial stage of hearing, or are you starting to believe in the Gospel? Or are you hearing Christ’s call to follow him, or are you now preaching (i.e. sharing the Gospel in some way)? It is a chain that never ends, because God will always be revealing more beauty about himself and salvation to you. How does God want you to keep progressing along this cycle?
