“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favour rests” (Luke 2:14).

The angel choir was singing praises because God had “made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness” (Php. 2:7). “Peace” was promised to all “on whom his favour rests”, that is, upon all who accepted this Child and God’s way of salvation. On such people God’s favour still rests; they experience his peace.
