“Don’t extort money and don’t accuse people falsely – be content with your pay” (Luke 3:14).

I have been in poor ex-Soviet countries where the police pull over cars, particularly late model cars, and examine them carefully for faults they can ticket, hoping the drivers will slip them some money in order to avoid a fine.

Human nature hasn’t changed over the centuries, which is why John the Baptist told the Roman soldiers who were responsive to the work of God on their hearts, to have nothing to do with these worldly practices but to learn to be content with their pay.

Just as there is a distinct difference between heaven and hell, so there is a distinct difference between the lives of the citizens of either place.
