“He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him” (John 1:11).
Perhaps the Romans could be forgiven for not recognising Jesus as God, in spite of his miracles and teachings, but it’s inexcusable that the very people whose mission it was to prepare the world for the coming of the Messiah should be deliberately blind as to who Jesus was.
They rejected Jesus because his ways and teachings were contrary to their ways and teachings. Instead of modifying their ways and teachings to harmonise with the Truth, they chose to get rid of him. That was their choice—a choice that excluded them from God’s kingdom.
