Daily Good News – Equal to Today’s Task?

“‘I will be with you always, to the very end of the age’” (Matthew 28:20).

This is one of Jesus’ best promises. Jesus knew that it would be difficult for his disciples after he left them. Imagine the task Jesus had just given these simple Galilaean fishermen: they were to go into all the world and teach and preach and win souls for Jesus! There would be difficult times when they would wonder whether all the trouble and persecution was worth it. They were hardly equipped for the task.

But Jesus gave them all the training, qualifications and expertise they would need in one sentence: he assured them that his presence would always be with them. With that presence, they became powerful, inspired individuals who would indeed change the world in the name of Jesus.

Likewise, if he is with us, no problem will ever be too great for us. He who fed a multitude with five small loaves and two small fish; who calmed a storm upon the lake; who raised the dead and healed the sick from a distance, is well able to care for us who share the gospel with others.
