Pontius Pilate said of Jesus, “He has done nothing to deserve death. Therefore, I will punish him and then release him” (Luke 23:15-16).

If Jesus was innocent why did Pilate plan to punish him? What wrong had Jesus done to deserve such a brutal flogging?

Are we any better in the way we treat the Lord? Do we, like Pilate, reject him to win the favour of others in order to save our own skins?
