“The wicked return to the grave . . . . but the needy will not always be forgotten” (Psalm 9:17,18).
In keeping with the Bible consensus with regard to the human state beyond death, this passage consigns those who defy God to the dust of the earth (non-existence), but the oppressed who know their need, inhabit the Creator’s memory. Whom God cannot forget, is never the grave’s prisoner. Whom God knows, God will keep.
