“For the Lord is righteous, he loves justice; upright men will see his face” (Psalm 11:7).
Righteousness, justice, and upright men! The instinctive sense that the universe ought to favour equity, truth and goodness is native in one form or another to every race of people on earth. Why do we feel this way in the presence of such widespread injustice, untruth and downright wickedness? Are upright men deluded? Are they fools? It cannot be. Our innate longing for oppression to end and decency to prevail is a sign these values come from an infinite and benevolent source. Upright men will see the face of God.
