“We’re not doing right. This is a day of good news and we are keeping it to ourselves” (2 Kings 7:9).
The law of God, written in human consciousness, makes men and women know that whatever good comes their way, brings with it an obligation to share. A benefit hoarded can turn into a load of guilt. The greater proportion of the world’s wrong does not lie in vicious damage and aggressive harm, but in the failure to gauge duty to brother and neighbour by one’s degree of privilege. Because God’s gifts to us are so plenteous, every day is a day of ‘good news.’
