Step/Week 4, Day 5 – Spiritual Inventory and Confess: Facing the Truth and Easing the Pain
May 6, 2020 1203
“Jesus said…‘I am the Light of the world. So if you follow Me, you won’t be stumbling through the darkness, for living light will flood your path’” (Jn. 8:12, TLB).
So, you have now confessed your shortcomings, resentments and sins to God, and you have gratefully received His forgiveness. It feels good to be clean, doesn’t it? I know I felt like a 10-tonne weight had been lifted from my shoulders. Enjoy that sensation!
We will experience four positive principles as a direct result of you confessing your sins. The first principle starts with the next letter in the CONFESS acrostic being F, which stands for FACE the truth.
Now having been through the painful process of making a spiritual inventory, you can now understand what it means to face the truth head-on. You can’t avoid the truth like you did before. From this point onwards, you need to live in the Light and Truth that is God. Jesus will light the path He wants you to walk on.
The next letter, which is E, stands for EASE the pain. Let me ask you a question: “How painful has your journey being through addiction?” A lot! Pretty Bad! Off the chart!
It will be welcoming news to know that your confession and God’s work in your life is helping to ease the pain, misery, and darkness that you’ve experienced. This could be a long process to wholeness, but each day just might start to feel less painful than the day before. Jesus being the Light of the world, will help you not stumble in the darkness anymore, as His truth and light will illuminate a better path for you to follow.

Personal Reflection: You can’t always control the pain that you feel, but you can make a choice to not entertain misery and self-pity anymore in your life. They have no place in a son or daughter of God, who has been cleansed and forgiven. Think about that when your tendency for self-pity starts rearing its ugly head. Let God’s light and truth flood your life with its brilliance!
