The Triple Blessing – by Eliezer Gonzalez

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. (2 Cor 13:14, NIV)

There is a triple blessing in this verse, and if you understand it and receive it, you will never really fail at anything again!

serving-hands1. Agape (ἀγάπη)

The love of God is how he sees you.

For some people, to be seen by God is a frightful thing. But to the person who understands the love of God, this is the most wonderful thing in the world – to know that God the Father always sees you through eyes of love.

2. Charis (χάρις)

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ is how he treats you. He always treats you with grace – the undeserved favour of God.

It’s wonderful to know that God plays favourites. Every child of his is his favourite!

In every circumstance, God is still pouring out his favour on you. He treats you as he would treat His only Son because Jesus was treated how your sins deserved to be treated.

3. Koinonia (κοινωνία)

The fellowship of the Holy Spirit is how God is with you.

Koinonia is a Greek word that Christians most often use to refer to church. But here it is not referring primarily to church, but instead to how God is with you through His Holy Spirit.

Koinonia means to share everything. Koinonia is active. You only know it is there because of what it does. It is inherent in its actions – loving actions, , actions that build up and encourage.

So God sees you through eyes of love, lavishes his grace and favour on you, but that’s not enough for Him. Oh no… he comes himself to be with you right where you are.

This blessing should totally transform the way you live.

How would you live if you knew that even if others look down on you and dismiss you and condemn you, that God looks at you through eyes of love?

How would you live if you knew if you knew that even if life seems to have put you down and trampled you, that you are God’s favourite?

How would you live if you knew that even if you have been living in the most desperate and hopeless loneliness, that God is with you right there where you are today, and that you will never be alone again?

If you are a believer, then its time to step up and live in the light of this triple blessing. It’s time to stop bringing discredit to God with negativity, and to start giving him the glory.

And if you are not a believer, then its time to say “yes” to Jesus, “yes” to the gospel. It’s time to step up into the joy of God’s triple blessing.
