Unlimited: Eternity Awaits
Dec 19, 2019 1266
This is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life (1 John 2:5, NASB).
The greatest promise of Jesus isn’t the promise of healing or a wonderful relationship, or wealth. The greatest promise of Jesus is eternal life, because everything else is included in this. Think about it, Jesus really does want you to have it all!
What good is it to have great health and to not enjoy eternal life with God? What good is it to have material prosperity and to lose your soul? What good is it to be in love if it will all end. That’s why Jesus says,
What do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? (Mark 8:36, NLT).
Jesus said these words after saying that,
“Whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it (Mark 8:35, NIV).”
What Jesus was saying is that to achieve eternal life is to achieve everything. But it means the path of self-denial, the path of the Cross.
This means that we may need to let go of some of our own desires for the sake of eternal life, but too often people want it all right now.
Remember that the greatest promise of all is the promise of eternal life.

Eli’s Reflection:When you have the assurance of salvation, the other things you want will be seen in a different light. Do you really know you are saved?
