Unlimited: God Justifies

It is God who justifies (Romans 8:33b).

The reason why no one can bring any charge against God’s children isn’t because they have lived obedient and righteous lives. No one could ever dare bring any charges against them because they have been justified by God. Justification means to declare someone as righteous.

A central aspect of the Gospel is that it is God alone who can justify. To accept this will also be one of the greatest internal struggles that you will ever face. It is the struggle to accept the Gospel.

The sin that is within us makes ignore our condition as sinners before God and so to continually try to justify ourselves (Matt. 10:29.) The Holy Spirit will allow us to a point of brokenness in our lives where we realise that no matter how hard we try, we cannot be righteous ourselves, and that none of our excuses are acceptable.

No one could ever dare bring any charges against us because we have been justified by God.

In the final analysis, we don’t need anyone else to justify us. Even if you have committed the most heinous of sins and have repented and accepted Christ, and then even if society cannot forgive what you have done, your soul can still be at peace:

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9.)

Spiritual Application

Are you living in the torment of not having been forgiven by others because of what you have done in the past? How can you find peace in Romans 8:33?

How true is this! I was broken, God presented an opportunity to come back to him and I followed the call which led me to my new Church family. That night at home my hurt, my pain, my anger, my brokenness was laid bare at his feet. That night healed me and filled me with a peace I had not known forever it seems. Despite having chosen to walk my own path for the previous 25 years, he had been walking with me easing my way when life was an absolute struggle without having that awareness. Life's struggles are still real but, I'm not alone. God is great, he is merciful and he gives meaning to the life I experience.
