Unlimited: Stealing from God

To him be the glory forever! Amen (Romans 11:36b).
Did you know that the movie stars actually have to pay to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Hollywood Boulevard? I was shocked recently to find out that it’s true. You can get a star for USD $30,000.
The truth is that whether it is other people laughing at our jokes or us buying a star on a sidewalk, we all like to be in the spotlight and receive praise and glory.
But the glory never belongs to us. It belongs to God. To take the glory for our achievements in life is to steal from God, although ultimately no-one can take anything away from God that he does not freely give.
Pride becomes unhealthy when you don’t ultimately freely give the credit to God.
We have all felt good when we’ve done a job well, especially if someone else compliments us about it. It is good to acknowledge your own achievements. It is even good to feel a healthy pride in them. But pride becomes unhealthy when you don’t ultimately freely give the credit to God.
Only God can receive glory forever, because only he is eternal. He is the beginning and the end of all things, and we are to recognize him as the source and sustainer of every aspect of our lives. Our truest glory is only ever a reflection of his.
Spiritual Application
